On Sunday a depleted Westquarter side once again lost the toss and Carlton made the most of their 40 overs on an excellent batting track. Once again the bowling was rusty, but little could be done about some of the excellent stroke play from the Carlton batsmen. Hunt and Martin both surpassed 50, and were supported with some big hits form the tail on their way to 255-8. Unlike Saturday Westquarter never really got going in reply. Rishi Chadha batted well as opener, scoring his highest score for the club so far (31) and Shoeb Farooqui hit a defiant 34, but Whatley had a great day with the ball, taking 5-16. With many players returning to the side this week, hopefully the team’s fortunes will change.
