Upon winning the toss Westquarter invited the visitors to bat first on a relatively soft pitch, and the Penicuik openers Yan Hip and Thomson got off to a slow start, with Stuart Fox and Jamil Zada once again proving effective in the early overs. Both took a wicket apiece and had the visitors struggling on 17-2. Rishi Chadha then continued the attack, getting Thomson to nick behind in his second over, and when Jamil Zada's pinpoint throw effected a run-out, Penicuik were now on a precarious 62-4.

Things were only to get worse for the visitors though, as form bowlers Abdul Baqi and Colin Fox were now introduced to the attack and Fox took no time in piling on the pressure, taking two wickets in his first over, before handing over to Baqi, who bowled beautifully to take his best haul of the season (4-15) leaving Penicuik all out for 84.

The tried and trusted opening partnership of Robert Sutton and Hamad Mumtaz were the first to set about chasing the small score, but any thoughts of an easy ride were quickly quashed, when Sutton was run out with the score on 6. Captain Shoeb Farooqui then joined Hamad and both helped move the score along, before a lapse on concentration from Shoeb had him trapped LBW with the score on 47.

The trademark Westquarter collapse then ensued, with Hamad setting it off after holing out to mid on, and then Abdul Baqi and Adam Jeremiah falling in consecutive deliveries and suddenly the home side were on 54-5.

This left Barry Sutherland and Rishi Chadha to take Westquarter over the finish line, and they did so with an array of boundaries, finishing the home reply in 22 overs.
